The Pipkin Conference Center is our newest facility at Camp Tygart. It is a full featured conference center/dining facility. The Pipkin Center has a covered drive through portico/entrance and wrap around porches with Adirondack-style rocking chairs with plenty of covered space for outdoor activities.
The kitchen is equipped with a large commercial four-burner electric stove/oven/flattop, large-capacity ice machine, two commercial refrigerators, two large and two medium stainless steel preparation tables, microwave oven, two commercial sinks (a three-compartment and a two-compartment), washer/dryer, separate restroom, and a wire baker's rack (temporary storage). The kitchen foyer is perfect for a serving area or staging area for larger functions. The kitchen also has a covered loading/unloading area providing easy access to the kitchen storage areas.
Currently, we do not schedule multiple or overlapping events in the center so that each user has sole use of the center for their particular rental. Unrented areas will blocked off and inaccessible.
Harvey Hall is the largest room in the Pipkin Center. It has a seating capacity of about 400 (at round tables; eight per table). It is an ideal setting for large gatherings, wedding receptions, and banquets.
The hall can be sub-divided by a floor-to-ceiling room divider that separates the room into roughly one-third and two-thirds. The larger room of Harvey Hall is connected to the kitchen foyer.
The Nell Greene Conference Room is a smaller dining/meeting room that seats 60-80 people. It also connects to the kitchen foyer as well as a separate external entrance.
The Vernard Robertson Tabernacle is an open-air worship facility that seats 900 people. The tabernacle was dedicated on May 17, 1973, to the glory of God and the deepening of the spiritual faith in honor of District Superintendent Vernard Robertson (1966 - 1973). It includes an elevated choir loft, ceiling fans and lights for evening services.
Resurrection Chapel is one of the most revered facilities at Camp Tygart. The building formerly served as Cecil United Methodist Church in Cecil, Georgia and was moved to Camp Tygart by the South Georgia Walk to Emmaus community in 1989.
The Resurrection Chapel has 16 wooden pews (seating approximately 96 people). There is a 3-sided padded communion rail around the altar. The chapel is heated/air-conditioned. It includes an elevated choir loft, ceiling fans, and lights for evening services.
Each of our six heated/air-conditioned cabins have twin-size bunk beds, restrooms, sinks, and shower facilities. Some are equipped with a separate counselor/special-needs room. Each cabin has both restroom, sink and shower facilities. All cabins can accommodate up to 20 people.
The Lakeland 3-Bedroom Guest House is a great setting for a family or small group (up to 8 persons) to enjoy a week or a month. This cozy three-bedroom cottage comfortably sleeps six and offers ample dining space and two bathrooms. It is convenient to all camp amenities, yet private enough to get away.
This cozy two-bedroom cabin, which sleeps up to six, is reminiscent of our grandparents' era. It features a genuine pine-paneled living room for sharing experiences, along with a large eat-in kitchen.
The Prayer Chapel is a very intimate worship space. There is a small kneeling altar and one pew (seating a total of 6 people) on each side of the room.
The pool pavilion is an ideal place to hold smaller gatherings under a sheltered picnic area. There is an adjacent playground and restroom facilities. The pavilion includes picnic tables.
Pool use is strictly at your own risk. Camp Tygart does not provide a lifeguard and assumes no responsibility for accidents or injuries that occur at the pool. Those that reserve the pool agree to provide adult supervision for all pool activities and to notify all participants of the liability policy and limitations prior to use.
A signed pool liability release form is required prior to being granted access to the pool.
The Ben Tygart Hall is a more economical alternative to the Pipkin Conference Center that seats 100 campers, includes a full kitchen with gas stove, and is wheelchair accessible.
Camp Tygart's RV hook-ups include water, electrical, and sewer connections. Depending on the length of your RV, you may be able to pull-through; however plan on backing in. If you have additional questions, please call us.
